What is it about the figure of the vampire in popular culture that makes it such a cult icon?  We love vampires and don’t seem to be able to get enough.  Each incarnation of the vampire brings something original, from pre christian god to sex symbol of the new millennium. Each genre the vampire infects, from romance to horror and teenage TV, has been enhanced and rejuvenated. In cinematic terms, the vampire has gone from Hammer monster to teen idol and still more vampires spill into our world from the dark edges of our imagination. Vamplit Writers ezine aims to produce something fresh and new, using a character who never ages and we believe will never die.

I have loved Occult-Parapsychology since the 4TH grade, when I read a book on Polterguists. Now, at 44, I have the urge to write. The books that have moved me the most have been Vampire Romance, which is how I think of the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice. Heart Shaped Box is a good Ghost Story, and anything by Clive Barker is worth reading. I have a passion for reading, i think the words on a page sing to me. I feel a good book, with all my senses. Now with the new technology in computers, I do not have to let my horrible spelling hold me back. I have only the darkness within to fear.

    Hi Valerie
I couldn’t agree with you more a really good Gothic romance is the best way to spend an evening. I liked Clive Barker’s earlier books and of course Anne Rice when writing vampire novels is great to read. The increase in paranormal romance is a bonus for any reader who likes a happy ending.
I love the new technology for the access to information. Out there is so much knowledge and ideas for new stories. I look forward to reading you take on the occult very soon.
